Test Method

Simplified, Standardized Variation Of Guaiac Test, Hemoccult; Beckman

Specimen Requirement

Stool specimen is required.

Additional Specimen Collection Information

Collect the specimen as prescribed on the Hemoccult folder. Close the folder tightly to prevent the specimen from drying out. Check the folder to make sure it is within the expiration date listed. Transport the specimen to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection. Hemoccult slides may be prepared and stored up to 14 days at room temperature before developing.

Performance

Testing is performed Monday through Friday.

Typically completed within 4 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
