Specimen Requirement
Heparin capillary blood is required.
Additional Specimen Collection Information
Collect blood via capillary puncture into blood gas heparinized capillary tubes. The extremity to be punctured must be pre-warmed for 3-10 minutes using a heel warmer or warm cloth.
Performance
Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.
Routine orders: Typically completed within 4 hour after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
STAT orders: Typically completed within 15 minutes after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
