Specimen Requirement

24 hour urine collection is preferred.

Additional Specimen Collection Information

Collect all urine for the prescribed period. No preservative is required. Keep the urine chilled during the collection period and prior to testing. Label the specimen with patient name and two identifiers (patient ID number, DOB, etc.). Send entire urine collection to the laboratory. Indicate the collection time period. Store the urine specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab within 48 hours.

Performance

Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.

Routine: Typically assayed within 2 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.

24 Hour: 0.9-1.8 gm/24 Hours
