Specimen Requirement

0.5 mL urine is required.

Additional Specimen Collection Information

Collect urine specimen according to the prescribed time. 24 hour preferred. Preservative may be required, refer to laboratory procedure. Label the specimen appropriately with two identifiers, patient name and another identifier, (patient ID number, DOB, etc.) include date and time of collection. Record the time period of collection on the container and the label. Submit entire specimen for analysis. Store the urine specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab within 48 hours.

Performance

Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.

Typically assayed within 2 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
