  • Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Testing with a molecular assay should be considered to evaluate for active infection in these individuals.

Specimen Requirement

  1. Using the swabs supplied in the kit, collect an anterior nares swab sample.
    1. Instruct the patient to blow their nose.
    2. Insert the entire absorbent tip of the swab inside the nostril (usually 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) and firmly sample the nasal wall by rotating the swab in a circular path against the nasal wall at least 4 times. Take approximately 15 seconds to collect the sample. 
    3. Repeat with the second nostril using the same swab. 
  2. Sample should be tested as soon as possible after collection.
  3. If immediate testing is not possible, place the swab in a clean, dry transport tube. 
  4. Swabs in transport tubes are stable for up to 120 hours at room temperature.

The SARS Antigen Test is intended for the qualitative detection of the nucleocapsid protein antigen from SARS-CoV-2 in anterior nares swab specimens from individuals who are suspected of having COVID-19 by their healthcare provider within the first five days of the onset of symptoms.


Testing is performed 24 hours per day.
