Specimen Requirement

Whole blood Sodium Citrate

Additional Specimen Collection Information

Collect two Sodium Citrate tubes with at least 1ml.  Short draws may adversly affect results. The first tube is a discard tube.

 

Specimens require a 10 minute room temperature incubation before testing and must be run before 4 hours post collection.

Useful For

Useful in cardiovascular surgery and cardiology procedures to assess hemorrhage or thrombosis conditions before, during and following operating procedures.

Performance

Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.

Routine: Typically completed within 5 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.

STAT: Typically completed within 1 hour after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
