Additional Specimen Collection Information

1. Specimens are typically assayed as they arrive in the lab. It is recommended that the serum be separated from contact with cells within 2 hours from time of collection.
2. Specimens not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection should have disclaimer added.
   Disclaimer: The specimen was not received in the recommended fashion (delayed cell separation from serum or plasma). Results should be interpreted with caution.
3. If serum/plasma specimens cannot be assayed within 8 hours of collection, they must be stored refrigerated at 2-8°C.
4. If serum/plasma specimens are to be stored longer than 8 days, they must be stored at -15 to -20°C for up to 3 months. Frozen specimens should be thawed only once.
