Test Method

Sysmex XN and XS Systems:

  • WBC: Impedance counting

Specimen Requirement

EDTA whole blood is required.

Additional Specimen Collection Information

Whole blood collected in EDTA purple-top tube. The tube must be at least one quarter full to be acceptable for testing.

Capillary specimen collected in EDTA microtube. The  tube must contain at least 375 mcl (bottom line) to be acceptable for testing.
Refrigerate the specimen if unable to assay within 12 hours of collection for microtainers, and 24 hours for Vacutainers. 

Performance

Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.

Routine orders: Typically completed within 4 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.

Expedite orders: Typically completed within 1 hour after the specimen arrives at the testing site.

STAT orders: Typically completed within 30 minutes after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
